Matthew Drooker has been appointed Chief Technology Officer at The Weather Company, bringing more than three decades of media and technology leadership to the role.

A Georgia Tech alumnus, Drooker began his career at Turner Broadcasting, where he held a range of senior positions including VP of System Development, CTO of CNN Digital, and SVP of Platform Technology. His work spanned everything from ad sales platforms at CNN to managing digital infrastructure for March Madness.
In 2022, Drooker made the leap to the music tech industry, joining SoundCloud as CTO. There, he led the global streaming platform’s technology strategy before deciding to return to a data-driven enterprise environment.
Now at The Weather Company, Drooker aims to advance both the consumer and enterprise sides of the business, which powers weather intelligence for millions of app users as well as sectors like aviation, defense, and logistics. He’s especially focused on making forecasts more actionable and personalized. “It’s not just about the temperature,” Drooker said. “It’s about when to walk my dog so I don’t get rained on.”
