Daniel Laakso has been named Chief Information Officer for Edison Works, a division of GE Aerospace focused on advanced military technology and national defense.
In this role, Laakso leads the digital strategy for secure innovation and mission-ready operations, overseeing enterprise system implementation and ensuring data integrity in compliance with government standards.

Laakso transitions to GE Aerospace following more than two decades of distinguished service in the U.S. Army. Most recently, he served as Professor of Military Science at the University of Cincinnati, where he directed leadership development programs and managed multi-million-dollar federal and academic resources.
Prior to that, he held CIO and operations leadership roles within the Army, managing IT teams, large-scale service contracts, and strategic communications for joint military and interagency missions.
“I’m honored to share that I’ve joined GE Aerospace as the Chief Information Officer for Edison Works, where we ‘invent the future of flight, lift people up, and bring them home safely,'” said Laasko. “After more than 20 years in uniform, this transition marks the start of a new mission—leading secure, mission-ready innovation at the intersection of technology and national defense.”
