Salesforce enters the generative AI race

More and more tech firms are working to incorporate generative AI into their products. Salesforce is the latest.

Salesforce has entered the AI race, partnering with OpenAI to incorporate ChatGPT with Slack and the massive amounts of data that Salesforce customers store in the software.

Why it Matters: Generative AI is expected to be the next big platform, especially as platforms like ChatGPT have amazed the public by itself. Incorporating generative AI into more consumer and B2B products is the next move for most tech firms.

  • Google and Microsoft have made announcements in recent weeks that generative AI will be available in search results, and Meta has made plans to hire an AI product team.
  • While many are using this for their customers, Salesforce hopes to utilize the tool itself by combining its own data and intellectual property.
  • Salesforce is aware of some of the issues with factual data and potential legal issues; and to temper this, they plan to always keep a “human” in the loop. As the excitement on ChatGTP continues, Salesforce is hoping the company will be able to defend itself against concerns over its growth prospects.
