Generative AI has surged in popularity and use cases since early 2023 as companies find new uses for it every day. Oracle, which has embraced the technology wholeheartedly, recently announced that it will expand its generative AI use by utilizing it within its Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM) system.
Why it matters: According to Oracle, their current Human Capital Management system “transforms the traditional administrative functions of human resources (HR) departments—recruiting, training, payroll, compensation, and performance management—into opportunities to drive engagement, productivity, and business value.” With the addition of generative AI, Oracle’s system will be able to offer enhanced job posting, search, and hiring processes for both job applicants and HR professionals.
- Generative AI allows HR professionals to streamline workflows around creating job descriptions and requirements for job postings. It can also summarize employee performance data from peers and managers for reviews as well as general suggestions that are tailored to the company culture.
- “With the ability to summarize, author, and recommend content, generative AI helps to reduce friction as employees complete important HR functions,” said Chris Leone, executive vice president of applications development at Oracle Cloud HCM.
- For now, the company just plans to add generative AI into HCM to strengthen its existing AI capabilities. It’s unclear at the moment whether or not the new feature will replace any HR employees in the future.
