Users of Bing preview will be able to access the new AI-powered Windows 11 search tool, directly from the search bar. Microsoft’s search box is one of the most used features on windows, and combining it with the new AI-powered Bing enables users to find the answers they are actually looking for faster than ever.
Why it matters: Underpinned by GPT4, the latest AI-language model built by research lab OpenAI Bing chat has already made headlines since its launch last month. One instance where the chatbot proclaimed love to a New York Times reporter. The evolution of this technology is one to watch closely.
- Users of Bing previously need only to install the latest Windows 11 update to access the new AI-powered Bing. For those not currently using the preview a waitlist is the only option to gain access to the new feature at this time.
- Microsoft updated its Edge browser earlier this year with AI capabilities and two new functionalities, chat and compose. Users can now, for example, ask for a summary of a financial report and then ask for a comparison with a competing company’s financials.
- Users can ask Edge to compose content as well, such as LinkedIn posts by simply giving a few prompts. The ethics of AI-generated content is already being hotly debated. The International Baccalaureate decided this week that students can quote ChatGPT in their essays as a source.
