Palantir Technologies (NASDAQ: PLTR) delivered a record second quarter, reporting revenue of $1.935 billion, up 93% year over year. U.S. commercial revenue climbed 149%, U.S. government revenue rose 90%, and adjusted free cash flow reached $1.22 billion.

The company raised its full-year guidance after signing a record number of large contracts and expanding relationships with existing customers.

Much of the discussion focused on ownership. Executives argued that the next chapter of enterprise AI will depend less on access to the latest model and more on who controls the data, workflows, security, and knowledge created by AI systems. That philosophy drives Palantir’s “sovereign AI” strategy and its Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP), which the company says gives customers control over how AI is deployed, governed, and improved.

Why It Matters: Organizations are now weighing how enterprise AI fits into existing operations, how models are managed over time, and how intellectual property remains protected after deployment. Palantir’s approach keeps those decisions in the hands of the customer while connecting AI investments to measurable business outcomes.

  • Ownership Drives the AI Strategy: Executives described sovereign AI as an operating model that gives customers control over the intelligence their AI systems create. CTO Shyam Sankar said AIP acts as “an automated model factory that runs inside the customer security boundary and accumulates intelligence in weights they control.” Throughout the call, management framed customer ownership as the foundation for long-term AI adoption.
  • AIP Expands Enterprise AI Capabilities: The company devoted significant attention to the software behind enterprise AI. Sankar described AIP as a platform that combines data integration, Ontology, workflow orchestration, evaluation tools, agent development, supervised fine-tuning, and reinforcement learning into a single environment. He also challenged the industry’s reliance on common AI benchmarks, saying, “The era of benchmaxing has ended. The new era is benchmaking.” In Palantir’s view, AI should be measured against the work customers need to accomplish instead of standardized tests.
  • Customers Expand AI Deployments: Customer deployments continued to grow after successful pilot projects. Management discussed organizations that converted initial engagements into multi-year agreements after demonstrating operational value. One multinational technology company expanded from a deployment within a single operating company to a nearly $370 million agreement spanning its portfolio. Similar expansion stories came from healthcare, financial services, and enterprise software.
  • Government Programs Continue to Shape the Platform: Government work continues to influence product development. Palantir said its Maven platform added another operational program during the quarter, and more than 25,000 builders are now developing applications and AI agents on the platform. Company leaders also discussed continued work around developer tooling, Ontology, security, and open data standards. Those investments support government missions while contributing capabilities to the commercial platform.
  • Engineering Investment Supports Product Growth: Investment in engineering remains a priority as demand grows. CFO David Glazer said operating expenses increased because of continued investment in the AI platform and technical hiring. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to investing in “the most elite technical talent as well as R&D for our product pipeline and sovereign AI efforts.” The higher spending came alongside raised financial guidance, as management cited continued demand for enterprise AI software.
