Moderna, a biotechnology company pioneering messenger RNA (mRNA) therapeutics and vaccines, has appointed Adrian Stone as Chief Information Security Officer. Stone will focus on protecting the security and integrity of Moderna’s corporate data and systems from cyber threats. His cybersecurity organization will work across the company to ensure security is at the core of Moderna.
Stone is a well-known cybersecurity veteran and joins Moderna from Peloton, where he was the company’s first-ever CISO. At Peloton, Stone scaled the company’s risk mitigation and security program, along with securing sensitive data, IT Infrastructure, live services, hardware product development, and manufacturing capabilities. Before his tenure at Peloton, Stone held leadership roles at Electronic Arts, Amazon, and BlackBerry.
“I am excited to be part of the company’s commitment to maintaining and safeguarding patients’ trust and help deliver the greatest impact to people through mRNA medicines,” said Stone.
Moderna is working to fortify its technology organization in a time of increasing cybersecurity threats. Stone is the second technology executive to join Moderna since the beginning of the year; Brad Miller was appointed Chief Information Officer in January.
