Quizzicle: In what country was the world wide web invented?

The World Wide Web was invented at CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research) in Geneva, Switzerland. It was created by British scientist Tim Berners-Lee in 1989 to enable scientists to share information more easily across different computers.

CERN made the Web protocol and code available royalty free in 1993, enabling its widespread use. After the NCSA released the Mosaic web browser later that year, the Web's popularity grew rapidly as thousands of websites sprang up in less than a year.
