Zune was a digital media player and services platform launched by Microsoft in 2006 to compete with Apple's iPod. Despite innovative features and a dedicated user base, it struggled to capture significant market share, leading Microsoft to discontinue the Zune hardware in 2011 and integrate its services into the Windows Phone, Xbox Music, and Video platforms.
