Welcome back to Quizzicle!

Research shows that taking breaks can help reduce stress in the workplace and the less stressed you are at work, the easier it is to get things done. We invite you to take a short break from your day and show us all how smart you are!

Maybe you aren’t quite the smartest in the room, but hey maybe you are smarter than a 5th grader (or at least your TNCR Crew)!

Quizzicle Insight:

The first commercially successful handheld mobile phone was developed by the American telecommunications company, Motorola. The phone, known as the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X, was released in 1983 and was the first mobile phone to be widely available to consumers.

Prior to the release of the DynaTAC 8000X, mobile phones were large and expensive, and were primarily used by businesspeople and government officials. The DynaTAC 8000X, however, was the first mobile phone that was small enough to fit in a pocket and affordable enough for consumers to purchase.

The DynaTAC 8000X was a brick-like device that weighed just over 2 pounds and cost $3,995 at the time of its release. It had a battery life of just 30 minutes of talk time and took 10 hours to recharge. Despite these limitations, the phone was a game-changer, and it paved the way for the development of smaller, more affordable mobile phones.

Motorola continued to innovate in the mobile phone industry, releasing the first flip phone, the StarTAC, in 1996, and the first camera phone, the Motorola V300, in 2003. However, the company struggled to compete with newer entrants in the market, such as Apple and Samsung, and was eventually acquired by Google in 2011.

Today, mobile phones are an essential part of daily life for billions of people around the world, and they have revolutionized the way we communicate and access information. The Motorola DynaTAC 8000X may seem primitive by today’s standards, but its impact on the mobile phone industry cannot be overstated.
