GitLab has named Chaim Mazal as its new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), tasking him with leading the company’s global security organization and overseeing the security of both the business and its platform.

Mazal joins from Gigamon, where he served as Chief AI and Security Officer, overseeing the company’s security function and AI governance initiatives. He previously held senior security leadership roles at Kandji and ActiveCampaign and brings more than 15 years of cybersecurity experience.
“Having spent years as a GitLab customer, Chaim understands the GitLab platform the way builders do. That practitioner instinct, combined with his security leadership depth, is exactly what we need,” said CEO Bill Staples.
At GitLab, he will help shape the company’s approach to AI security as organizations increasingly adopt AI agents and confront emerging AI-driven threats.
