The City of San Antonio has appointed Shannon Lawson as its new Chief Information Security Officer and Director of the Alamo Regional Security Operations Center (ARSOC). A seasoned cybersecurity leader, Lawson brings over 20 years of experience spanning federal, state, municipal, and private-sector roles.

Most recently, Lawson served as CISO and virtual CISO at Redapt Inc., where he led cybersecurity practice development and strategic advisory services for clients. Prior to that, he held top security posts in both Phoenix and Alaska. As Assistant CIO and CISO for the City of Phoenix, Lawson oversaw a $20 million security budget and led modernization efforts across 35 departments, aligning operations with key frameworks including NIST, HIPAA, and PCI DSS.
During his tenure as CISO and CTO for the State of Alaska, he unified cybersecurity operations across 15 agencies and launched a statewide security operations center. His early career includes leadership roles with NAVWAR, the U.S. Navy, and the National Security Agency.
In his new role, he will collaborate with local and regional partners, including CPS Energy, the San Antonio Water System, and the University of Texas at San Antonio, to strengthen regional cyber resilience.
