The Wendy’s Company, a leading global fast-food chain, has officially announced the promotion of Matt Spessard to the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO). Spessard, who previously served as Senior Vice President, Global Chief Technology Officer since August 2022, will now lead the charge in advancing Wendy’s technological initiatives, ensuring the brand remains at the forefront of innovation in the fast-food industry.
Before his tenure at Wendy’s, Spessard amassed a wealth of experience at Inspire Brands, where he served in various leadership roles, including Vice President of Technology at SONIC. His background also includes impactful positions at YUM! Brands, Church’s Chicken, and Braum’s Ice Cream & Dairy Stores.
In his new role as CIO, Spessard is tasked with overseeing all aspects of Wendy’s global technology efforts. This includes critical areas such as Restaurant Technology, Data Management and Analytics, Enterprise Technology, Software Architecture and Engineering, and Information Security. His appointment comes at a time when Wendy’s is keen on driving growth through digital transformation, improving customer and crew experiences, and accelerating sales and profitable growth across its global system.
