Philadelphia has welcomed Melissa Scott as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO), a strategic appointment announced by Mayor Cherelle L. Parker. Scott steps into this pivotal role with a rich history of service within the city’s Office of Innovation and Technology, tasked with spearheading initiatives aimed at fostering a connected and equitable digital environment.
Scott’s journey in the city began in 2015, holding significant positions such as Information Technology Director and Information Technology Project Manager. A Howard University alumna, her expertise spans IT management, software development, infrastructure, and security planning. Her leadership was instrumental in the development and launch of the Office of Licenses & Inspection’s mobile application, marking a significant milestone in the city’s technological advancement.
In this new capacity, Scott is set to oversee the city’s comprehensive information security, ensuring digital accessibility and promoting innovative practices. Mayor Parker shared, “My vision for the Parker Administration is a smart, interconnected government, where technology and innovation help produce better, more efficient delivery of services to every resident of Philadelphia.
