The Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration has appointed Kristin Darby as the state’s new Chief Information Officer. She will succeed Stephanie Dedmon, who is retiring on June 30 after more than two decades of service to the state, including nearly seven years as CIO.

Darby steps into the role with an extensive 25-year career in healthcare, finance, operations, biotech, cybersecurity, and insurance. Most recently, she served as CIO at HarmonyCares, where she led transformational technology initiatives focused on value-based care delivery.
Her previous CIO roles include leadership positions at Envision Healthcare, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Vanguard Health Systems/Tenet Healthcare, and the Risk Management Foundation of the Harvard Medical Institutions (CRICO).
Commissioner Jim Bryson expressed enthusiasm for Darby’s appointment, stating that her deep expertise in technology strategy, cybersecurity, and digital transformation will be critical in advancing Tennessee’s IT initiatives, “She brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record for success in transformative and strategic technology leadership to the people of Tennessee.“
