Piedmont has named Mike Angelakos, DrPH, as its new Chief Information Officer. With more than 30 years of IT experience, Angelakos brings a strong track record in technology leadership, digital transformation, and IT service optimization.

Angelakos most recently served as CIO at Geisinger, where he led enterprise IT and information security across a 10-hospital system serving over 1.2 million people.
His tenure included driving initiatives such as cloud migration, modernizing infrastructure, and implementing an enterprise AI strategy to improve clinical and operational performance. He also oversaw ISS Solutions, Geisinger’s national healthcare technology management subsidiary.
Before Geisinger, Angelakos spent 17 years at Trinity Health, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit health systems. There, he held multiple senior roles including Chief Technology Officer, Regional CIO, and Vice President of Service Optimization and Technology Operations.
Across both organizations, he built a reputation for leading resilient, high-performing teams and advancing critical technology strategies.
“We are excited to welcome Mike with his deep expertise in IT governance, service optimization and program development,” Piedmont Healthcare President and CEO Kevin Brown said. “Quality, Safety and Service is at the heart of everything our organization does and our Information Services Department, in large part through our Electronic Medical Record, plays a critical role in enabling our high-quality, patient-centered care.”
