Kaiser Permanente has announced the appointment of Neil Cowles as its new Chief Information and Technology Officer. In this role, Cowles will oversee the organization’s information and technology operations, spearheading the development, integration, and deployment of innovative technologies to transform healthcare delivery at scale.

Cowles, who had been serving as Chief Technology Officer since June 2024, has played a critical role in strengthening Kaiser Permanente’s IT infrastructure and advancing the adoption of emerging technologies. Since joining the organization in 2012, he has been accountable for both business and clinical IT systems, significantly enhancing platform resiliency.
In his expanded role, Cowles will now lead the entire information and technology organization, directing the integration and deployment of innovative tools to enhance healthcare delivery at scale. His responsibilities will also include leveraging technologies such as artificial intelligence and cloud computing to support Kaiser Permanente’s 12.4 million members and 240,000 employees.
