Intel Corporation has named Sachin Katti as its new Chief Technology Officer and Chief AI Officer, following the retirement of Greg Lavender, who had served in the role since 2021.

Katti most recently served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Intel’s Network and Edge Group (NEX), where he led the group’s technology and product development across networking and edge computing. Prior to that, he was the CTO for NEX, responsible for defining the technical strategy and long-term vision for the business unit.
In his expanded role, Katti will now lead the company-wide AI strategy and product roadmap, oversee Intel Labs, and manage the company’s engagement with startup and developer ecosystems. His responsibilities will also include guiding research efforts in fundamental and applied technologies, including those critical to Intel’s process technology innovation.
Katti joined Intel in 2021 from VMware, where he was Vice President of Telco and Edge Strategy and played a key role in shaping the company’s approach to network and edge cloudification.
Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan emphasized the importance of Katti’s appointment in restoring a culture of innovation at the company, stating that his leadership will be central to Intel’s transformation efforts.
