Brandon Ragle has been appointed as the Secretary of the Illinois Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) and State CIO, following a recent interim period in the role after the departure of the former CIO.

This marks Ragle’s second time leading DoIT in an acting capacity, having also served in the position for six months in 2023. A veteran of Illinois state government since 2002, Ragle began his career as a software engineer at the Department of Insurance before transitioning to DoIT in 2016.
There, he held leadership roles, including deputy chief and chief of enterprise applications, and later, deputy secretary and deputy CIO.
During his tenure, Ragle has played a pivotal role in modernizing the state’s IT infrastructure, enhancing operational accessibility, and managing a department budget of $1.1 billion. He is widely credited with strengthening stakeholder relationships and improving service delivery across client agencies.
“I am deeply honored by Governor Pritzker’s appointment as Secretary of the Illinois Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) and State CIO,” said Secretary Brandon Ragle. “Having witnessed the dedication and talent within DoIT, I am excited to lead this team in a collaborative effort to strategically advance technology for the benefit of all Illinoisans.”
