The Georgia Institute of Technology has appointed Joseph “Joe” Lewis as Associate Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Security Officer. Lewis brings over 20 years of cybersecurity leadership experience spanning federal agencies, defense, and the private sector.

Most recently, Lewis served as Vice President of Cybersecurity Solutions for Leidos’ Health and Civil sector and as interim CISO for its subsidiary, Leidos QTC Health Services.
Previously, he served as CISO and Director of the Cybersecurity Program Office at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where he led enterprise-wide security initiatives. His earlier roles included senior cybersecurity leadership at the U.S. Department of Energy and the Department of the Army.
Lewis will lead Georgia Tech’s information security and risk management strategies.
He will oversee the Cyber Security team, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the Institute’s data while driving compliance with cybersecurity standards.
