Best Buy has appointed Neal Sample as its new Chief Digital and Technology Officer. Sample brings a deep and varied background in both legacy enterprises and technology-driven organizations, reinforcing Best Buy’s commitment to digital transformation.

Most recently, Sample served as Executive Vice President and CIO at Walgreens Boots Alliance, a role he held for nearly two years.
His prior leadership roles include CIO of Northwestern Mutual, and COO of Express Scripts, following a promotion from CIO before the company’s acquisition by Cigna. Earlier in his career, he served as Group President of Enterprise Growth at American Express and held senior technology positions at Yahoo! and eBay.
“Neal has a unique background, having spent time in legacy businesses as well as in high-tech and digitally native companies,” said Best Buy CEO Corie Barry, adding that his leadership is expected to help Best Buy operate “with greater speed, clarity and conviction.”
