The recently concluded 2023 Global Tech Trends Survey from Equinix has captured the perspectives of 2,900 IT decision-makers from diverse enterprises across the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and EMEA regions. This comprehensive study offers a penetrating analysis of the challenges and opportunities these influential leaders encounter as they endeavor to implement new technologies amidst the intricate tapestry of today’s economic and geopolitical landscape.
AI and Cloud Computing are two technologies top of mind for the majority of CIOs but concerns are prevalent that existing infrastructure and team capabilities are not aligned to deliver the benefits of these rapidly advancing innovations.
In fact, survey respondents cited several deterrents for adoption of these new technologies to include increases in OPEX costs, lack of internal competencies, ability to implement in a timely fashion, and risk of reputation lost in failed implementations.
However the majority of technology leaders report talent shortages and competition for said talent as the biggest limiting factor for success.
As a result and in spite of global news stories on tech layoffs, most IT decision-makers report team growth with 57% offering that their teams grew over the last two years and 66% expect their teams to grow in the next 12 months.
