Top organizations are integrating technology into every aspect of business, and are looking for technology leaders at the top of their game. These 18 technology leaders have recently taken the reins within their respective organizations.

Jacky Wright – Chief Technology and Platform Officer at McKinsey & Co.

Jacky Wright will join McKinsey as the firm’s first-ever Chief Technology and Platform Officer (CTPO). Wright brings to McKinsey more than 20 years of experience helping some of the world’s leading institutions leverage technology to drive innovation, adopt sustainable and accessible business models, and digitally transform.

Lance Kobza – Chief Information Officer at Omni Hotels

Omni Hotels & Resorts recently announced Lance Kobza as the organization’s new Chief Information Officer. Kobza originally worked at Omni Hotels as their Director of Application Services in 2013, so this is an exciting move for him as he returns to the Omni family.

Beth O’Rorke – SVP & CIO at Commonwealth Health Alliance

Beth O’Rorke was selected as the Commonwealth Health Alliance’s new Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. She brings over two decades of leadership experience from her previous roles at Amazon Web Services, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, and Staples, amongst others. Beth is also an Executive Council Member at the CIO Professional Network.

Kevin Johnson – Chief Information Security Officer at The Beckage Firm

The Beckage Firm PLLC, a women-owned, boutique data security and privacy law firm, recently announced the addition of Kevin Johnson to the rapidly growing team of The Beckage Firm.  Kevin Johnson, a United States Air Force veteran, will serve as the Firm’s Chief Information Security Officer. Johnson brings almost two decades of experience in continuous monitoring, security governance, risk management, vulnerability management, process development, and auditing.

Douglas Duncan – Chief Information Officer at Elementum

Elementum, a leading alternative investment manager specializing in collateralized natural catastrophe event reinsurance investments, announced that Douglas Duncan has joined their senior team firm as the Chief Technology Officer. Doug has also previously held positions with the Corporate Solutions division of Swiss Reinsurance, General Electric Insurance Solutions, and the US Federal Highway Administration. Duncan, when accepting the position, added that “Elementum has a great reputation in the insurance-linked securities sector, built on an established history as industry pioneers. I am excited to join this outstanding team, and to write the next chapter of our technology strategy as we look to provide top-tier service to our clients.”

Bill Rex – Chief Information Officer of Kellogg Company North America Cereal Co.

As the current Chief Information Officer of Kellogg North America, Bill is in a great position to step into the role of Chief Information Officer of North America Cereal Co. Bill brings significant IT expertise and leadership experience to the role, through his digital transformation efforts at Kellogg to his previously held IT positions at Stryker, Mylan, and Rockwell Collins.

Sharon Pitt – VP, Information Technology and Chief Information Officer at Brown University

Sharon Pitt has been named Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer at Brown University, beginning November 1st. Pitt brings a long history of IT leadership experience in the education sector ranging from VP for IT and CIO at the University of Delaware, CIO at Binghampton University, and Deputy CIO at George Mason University, to name a few.

Carolyn Pleiss – Chief Information Officer at Cox Enterprises

Cox Enterprises announced Carolyn Pleiss as its new Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. Pleiss was previously Cox Enterprises VP, Strategy and Value Realization, and she has been with Cox since 2007.

Thomas Harris – Chief Information Officer at Catholic Charities Serving Central Washington

Thomas Harris was chosen to become Catholic Charities Serving Central Washington’s next Chief Information Officer, beginning October 17th. Harris will be leaving Abacus Solutions, where he’s spent the last six years in various roles, ranging from the Director of Operations to the organization’s Chief Operating Officer.

Gary Brantley – SVP & Chief Information Officer at the National Football League

The National Football League has appointed Gary Brantley as SVP & CIO for the National Football League. Brantley will lead technology and digital strategy for the League as the NFL is expanding its global partnerships. Brantley brings nearly two decades of IT leadership experience to his new role.

Michelle Grover – Chief Technology Officer at Slalom

Michelle Grover was hired to serve as the first Chief Technology Officer of Slalom, a Seattle-based global business and technology consulting firm. Grover previously served as Chief Information Officer for Twilio and was most recently the interim Chief Information and Digital Officer at First Command Financial Services. Additionally, she also served as the Senior VP of Software Development for TripIt and Mobile at SAP Concur.

Darrell Messersmith – Head of Technology and Operations Carespan Health, Inc.

The “Clinic in the Cloud™”, otherwise known as Carespan Health, Inc., has announced Darrell Messersmith as its Head of Technology and Operations. As Head of Technology and Operations, Darrell will oversee product management, development, maintenance, infrastructure, and technical support for CareSpan’s Clinic-in-the-Cloud product. Darrell brings over 25 years of experience in healthcare system leadership, working with providers and system leadership to advance clinical care and technology adoption.

Hsiao Wang – Chief Information Officer at Walgreens

Hsiao Wang assumed the role of Chief Information Officer for Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) on September 26, reporting to CEO Roz Brewer as a member of the Executive Leadership Team. He will lead the strategy for WBA’s IT function and implement its technology and digital innovation.

Richard Bird – Chief Security Officer at Traceable AI

Traceable, the industry’s leading API security and observability company, announced the appointment of Richard Bird as Chief Security Officer. As a cybersecurity and IT operations industry veteran with nearly 30 years of experience, Richard has a strong track record around protecting the interests of SaaS and financial services companies as well as turning information security into a competitive advantage. 

Patrick Eltridge – Group Chief Information Officer at Nomura

Patrick Eltridge began his tenure as the new Group Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Nomura Holdings in Tokyo on October 1st. Eltridge brings more than 35 years of financial industry experience to his new role at Nomura.

Kate Grasman – Chief Information Officer at Heffernan Insurance Brokers

Heffernan Insurance Brokers, one of the largest full-service, independent insurance brokerage firms in the United States, announced on September 13, 2022 that Kate Grasman has joined the company as Chief Information Officer. Kate comes to Heffernan Insurance Brokers with extensive experience leading IT operations, strategy, and performance management, most recently with The Clorox Company and GE Capital.

Jess Evans – Chief Information Officer at Vanderbilt University

Jess Evans, a veteran technology executive with extensive experience in institutional and operational strategy, has been named chief information officer for Vanderbilt University, with a start date of November 7th. Evans joins the Vanderbilt community from Arizona State University, where she has served as Chief Operating Officer for IT and Deputy Chief Information Officer since July 2018, with a prior tenure as Executive Director for IT at Case Western Reserve University.

Jamil Farshchi – Strategic Engagement Advisor with the Federal Bureau of Investigation

Equifax announced that Chief Information Security Officer Jamil Farshchi has been appointed as a Strategic Engagement Advisor to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Farshchi joined Equifax in 2018. Prior to Equifax, Farshchi was Chief Information Security Officer of The Home Depot, Chief Information Security Officer of Time Warner, Vice President of Global Information Security for Visa, Chief Information Security Officer of the Los Alamos National Laboratory, and Deputy Chief Information Assurance Officer of NASA.
