Amazon Web Services (AWS) is launching the AWS GovTech Accelerator program to support startups in developing solutions that enhance the capabilities of government agencies. The program’s inaugural cohort will focus on justice and public safety organizations such as courts, corrections, emergency services, and law enforcement.
Why it matters: This initiative underscores the pressing need to enhance the capabilities of government agencies through innovative technological solutions. It reflects the recognition that many government sectors are currently lagging behind in adopting modern technology. Outdated systems and processes hinder their ability to effectively serve their communities and address emerging challenges.
- The program includes both a four-week virtual program and in-person opportunities for technical and business mentorship for GovTech startups.
- Applications close Monday, July 10, 2023. The startups will be notified by Wednesday, August 9, 2023, and the program will kick off with an in-person event in Fall 2023.
- Selected startups will gain access to a wide range of resources and support. These include specialized technical guidance tailored to meet public sector requirements, mentoring from industry leaders and subject matter experts in the justice and public safety field, coaching for business development and go-to-market strategies, investment guidance, AWS Promotional Credit, potential proof-of-concept opportunities with justice and public safety organizations, and collaboration opportunities with members of the AWS Partner Network (APN).
