Organizations, although receiving no lack of funding for cybersecurity, are still failing to keep up with data breaches. Companies around the world spent $150 billion on cybersecurity in 2021. Even with this extravagant amount of money poured into the space, 4,100 publicly disclosed data breaches still took place in 2022, exposing around 22 billion records.

Why it matters: The rise of generative AI and artificial intelligence, in general, is making the software landscape for companies more vulnerable. The way in which companies use software is being fundamentally changed as a result of the new advances in technology, opening them up to increased threats. Companies need to take note of the rising insecurities of the digital world and implement changes to combat them.

  • Organizations should adopt zero-trust architectures to detect and respond to risks when they occur.
  • Cybersecurity programs need to evolve from only focusing on security failures to increasing efforts around overall risk assessment.
  • One of the highest priority efforts for cybersecurity teams should be monitoring for failures.
