Remote and hybrid work was far harder to unwind than most companies thought it would be in the months following office reopenings in the summer of 2021. Although many companies wanted employees back in the office full-time, some have adapted to hybrid schedules with an increased focus on relationship building when employees are in the office.

The big picture: Some argue that digital collaboration tools allow for innovation outside the office, alleviating concerns that fewer face-to-face interactions would lead to decreased innovation. Most hybrid organizations are using the in-office time to build relationships for stronger online teams.

  • Remote and hybrid work allow organizations to identify talent pools before finding office space.
  • Creating a flex hybrid work schedule allows employees the benefits of remote work but keeps some element of the predictability of a traditional office setting.
