Oracle and Google Cloud have announced a significant expansion of their partnership, giving Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) customers access to Google’s most advanced AI models through the OCI Generative AI service. The collaboration begins with the integration of Gemini 2.5, Google’s flagship multimodal model, and will grow to include the full family of Gemini models through Google’s Vertex AI platform.
This move aligns the two cloud giants in accelerating the deployment of generative and agentic AI across enterprise environments, aiming to strengthen Oracle’s enterprise AI portfolio and simplify the AI adoption journey for businesses already operating within the Oracle ecosystem.
Oracle has included access to these models using their existing Oracle Universal Credits, providing a cost-effective introduction for continued users.
Why It Matters: This collaboration between Oracle and Google Cloud follows growing demand for enterprise-grade AI solutions that seamlessly integrate into existing infrastructure. Enabling Gemini access within OCI provides a more secure and efficient way for businesses to adopt cutting-edge AI without migrating data or systems. It also reflects a broader industry trend toward interoperability and cloud collaboration as AI becomes central to enterprise transformation.
- Gemini 2.5 Now on OCI Generative AI Service: Oracle users can now work with Gemini 2.5 through the OCI Generative AI service. The model is capable of supporting a range of enterprise-grade use cases, including coding assistance, workflow automation, content creation, and data analysis.
- Planned Integration with Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications: Oracle has announced its intention to bring Gemini models into its Fusion Cloud Applications. If implemented, this could introduce new AI-driven capabilities into core operational systems, including in-depth analysis and process automation.
- Connection Through Vertex AI: The technical integration will be based on Google’s Vertex AI platform, allowing Oracle customers to access a broader set of Gemini models over time. These include models designed for specific media types, as well as industry-focused models like MedLM for healthcare-related applications.
- Enterprise Considerations: The Gemini models include numerous features that could upgrade enterprise operations, such as the ability to reference support for extended context inputs and compliance with privacy and encryption standards. These design choices are intended to support use in more sensitive or data-intensive environments.
- Use of Existing Oracle Credits: Customers can apply their existing Oracle Universal Credits toward the use of Gemini models through the OCI Generative AI service. This could simplify procurement and billing for organizations already using Oracle Cloud, lowering the operational friction of testing or adopting new AI tools.
