‘New Automation’ in Technology Careers

It's going to take a range of emerging skills to alleviate the need for AIOps talent.

The age of abstraction has been ushered in through the invention of ChatGPT and other open AI models. It is increasing so steadily that one no longer needs in-depth knowledge of the plumbing underneath today’s applications and devices. New automation will handle many of the repetitive and low-level jobs in the near future, but, first, skills will need to be developed to introduce this automation.

Why it matters: Innovative technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence will require a self-service approach to take advantage of the automation they bring. Self-service automation boosts efficiency, lowers manual labor, and ultimately empowers people so that they have control of their own processes.

  • AIOps, which utilizes AI to monitor and enhance IT operations, will be used to reduce open tickets and automate tedious tasks.
  • Not all automation solutions can connect container, cloud, and on-premises systems, and the necessary skill sets for AIOps continue to be hard to find.
  • Managing AI systems will require a great array of coordination, cross-functional leadership, and the ability to manage AI systems in a manner that assists employees in their current roles.
