The Federal Communications Commission has appointed Farhan Khan as Chief Information Officer, placing him in charge of the agency’s technology direction and IT operations.

In this role, he will lead efforts across enterprise systems, modernization programs, and cybersecurity, ensuring the FCC’s technology environment supports its regulatory responsibilities and day-to-day operations.

The CIO function sits within the Office of the Managing Director and supports the agency’s workforce and the systems used by communications providers and public services.

Khan joins from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, where he served as Chief Digital Officer. He oversaw a $200 million budget and led more than 400 IT professionals, guiding agency-wide digital initiatives across several divisions.
