The University of Pennsylvania has appointed Joshua Beeman as Vice President for IT and Chief Information Officer, formalizing a role he has held on an interim basis since August 2025.

A Penn alumnus, Beeman will lead Information Systems and Computing, overseeing campus-wide IT strategy and services.
He previously served as Associate Vice President of IT and Associate CIO, helping redesign the University’s IT security framework and advance research computing initiatives.
His appointment follows a period of cybersecurity incidents in 2025, during which he emphasized Penn’s security investments and response capabilities.
