The year is just getting underway, and a new wave of technology leaders is already reshaping the enterprise.

This first CxOs on the Move edition of 2026 tracks senior executives stepping into CIO, CTO, CISO, and digital leadership roles as organizations double down on AI, security, platform resilience, and modernization.

These appointments span healthcare systems, financial institutions, government agencies, and global enterprises, indicating how quickly the scope and stakes of technology leadership continue to expand.

Elliott Cheu – Chief Information Officer at The University of Arizona

The University of Arizona has permanently appointed Elliott Cheu as Chief Information Officer, after serving as interim CIO since early 2025. A longtime university leader and University Distinguished Professor of Physics, Cheu brings decades of experience spanning academic, research, and administrative leadership, and is widely respected for his collaborative approach and steady guidance during a period of transition for the institution’s technology organization.

Ted Tanner – Chief Technology Officer at Leidos

Leidos has named Ted Tanner as its new Chief Technology Officer, bringing a senior AI and deep-technology leader to guide the company’s technology strategy. Tanner joins from BigBear.ai, where he served as Chief Technology and Strategy Officer, and brings experience from roles at IBM Watson Health as well as earlier work at Apple and Microsoft. With a background spanning artificial intelligence, mission software, and advanced computing, he will focus on advancing Leidos’ technology capabilities across government, defense, health, and emerging tech domains.

Christopher Mackie – Chief Information Officer at McGuireWoods

McGuireWoods has appointed Christopher Mackie as Chief Information Officer, elevating a longtime technology leader who has helped transform the firm’s IT capabilities since joining as Chief Technology Officer in 2013. Mackie has led major initiatives spanning enterprise systems, data governance, emerging technologies, and remote work enablement, aligning technology closely with the firm’s business and client service needs. In his new role, he assumes firm-wide responsibility for information systems.

Felicia Yue – Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Sphere Entertainment

Sphere Entertainment has added Felicia Yue as Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Sphere. A longtime leader in entertainment technology, Yue has built and led innovations that shaped how audiences experience live sports and media, and has held senior roles across major media and technology organizations. In her new role, she will lead the technology behind Sphere’s immersive experiences, overseeing the platforms and infrastructure that power its venues and studios.

Amala Duggirala – Chief Digital and Technology Officer at Delta Air Lines

Delta Air Lines has named Amala Duggirala Chief Digital and Technology Officer, elevating her to lead a newly unified digital and technology organization while reporting directly to CEO Ed Bastian and serving on the Delta Leadership Committee. Duggirala joins Delta from USAA, where she served as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer and led large-scale digital transformation initiatives, following earlier senior technology roles at Regions Bank and ACI Worldwide. She succeeds Rahul Samant, who is retiring after a decade as CIO, and will oversee enterprise technology and digital product development as Delta continues integrating digital capabilities across customer and employee experiences.

David Overton – Vice President of IT and Chief Information Security Officer at Pathify

Pathify has appointed David Overton as Vice President of IT and Chief Information Security Officer, bringing more than 25 years of experience in information technology and cybersecurity. Overton most recently served as CIO at Charleston Southern University, where he led enterprise IT operations, security strategy, and digital initiatives in a higher education environment. In his new role, he will oversee Pathify’s internal IT and security programs, with a focus on data protection, governance, and supporting the company’s expanding campus experience platform.

Sonney Sapra – Chief Information Officer at UVA Health

UVA Health has named Sonney Sapra as its new Chief Information Officer. Sapra brings nearly 15 years of health system IT leadership experience, most recently serving as senior vice president and chief digital and information officer at Samaritan Health Services and Health Plan. In the role, he will oversee the information and digital systems that support UVA Health’s patient care, research, and education missions.

Misty Kuamoo – Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Nationwide Financial

Nationwide has added Misty Kuamoo as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Nationwide Financial. A longtime technology leader at Nationwide, Kuamoo will oversee technology solutions supporting the company’s financial services businesses, building on her experience leading corporate technology, workplace solutions, and cybersecurity initiatives. She brings more than 30 years of cross-industry experience and has played a central role in advancing digital, AI-enabled, and associate-focused technology capabilities across the organization.

David Cheong – Chief Information Officer at ABC Stores

ABC Stores has brought on David Cheong as Chief Information Officer. Cheong joins the Hawaiian-based retailer with a background spanning retail and technology leadership, including senior roles at Gymboree, Title Nine, World Wide Technology, and Tate Technologies. In the role, he will oversee technology strategy and systems supporting ABC Stores’ operations across Hawaii, Guam, Saipan, and Las Vegas.

Kirsten Davies – Chief Information Officer at Department of Defense

Kirsten Davies has been confirmed by the Senate as Chief Information Officer of the Department of Defense, becoming the Pentagon’s top IT and cybersecurity leader following a 53–43 vote. Nominated in May, she brings extensive private-sector experience and assumes the role as the Defense Department accelerates digital modernization. Her focus is expected to include reducing technology debt, strengthening cybersecurity, and advancing modern IT capabilities that better support military operations.

Raj Patel – Chief Technology Officer at MeridianLink

MeridianLink has appointed Raj Patel as Chief Technology Officer, adding a seasoned technology executive with decades of experience leading enterprise SaaS and AI-driven platforms. Patel most recently served as Executive in Residence for R&D at Permira, and previously held senior engineering leadership roles at companies including Genesys, Symantec, Pinterest, Salesforce, Cisco/Webex, and Yahoo. In his new role, Patel will lead MeridianLink’s technology strategy, with a focus on advancing platform innovation, AI-enabled capabilities, and scalable solutions for financial institutions.

Ian N. Dawson – Chief Information Security Officer at Silicon Labs

Silicon Labs has named Ian N. Dawson as Chief Information Security Officer, bringing a senior cybersecurity leader with more than 20 years of experience across enterprise security, resiliency, and governance. Dawson previously held senior security leadership roles at Lumen Technologies and Charles Schwab, where he led global security operations and board- and regulator-facing programs. In his new role, he will oversee Silicon Labs’ global cybersecurity strategy, focusing on protecting intellectual property, strengthening enterprise resilience, and embedding security across silicon, software, and cloud-connected products.

Gloria Glaubman – Chief Technology Officer at Acclaim Technical Services

Acclaim Technical Services has added Gloria Glaubman as its inaugural Chief Technology Officer. A longtime technology and cybersecurity leader, Glaubman brings decades of experience across government, national security, and the private sector, including senior federal roles overseeing cloud, data, and AI modernization as well as earlier work in secure telecommunications for government clients. In the role, she will guide ATS’s technology strategy in support of mission-critical intelligence community programs.

Josh Hollin – Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Benchmark

Benchmark Electronics has appointed Josh Hollin as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. Hollin brings more than 25 years of engineering and manufacturing leadership experience, most recently serving in senior engineering roles at GoPro, AMP Robotics, and Flex. In his new role, he will lead Benchmark’s global engineering organization, with a focus on advancing automation, AI, and next-generation manufacturing technologies to support innovation across the company’s customer base.

Anand Varadarajan – Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Starbucks

Starbucks has appointed Anand Varadarajan as Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, succeeding Deb Hall Lefevre and reporting to CEO Laxman Narasimhan. Varadarajan brings nearly 20 years of experience from Amazon, where he led technology and supply chain initiatives for the Worldwide Grocery Stores business, with a focus on scalable systems and operational efficiency. Earlier in his career, he held engineering roles at Oracle and worked with early-stage technology companies, building a reputation for developing reliable platforms and strong engineering teams.

Brant P. Beard – Chief Information Officer at NASBA

NASBA has named Brant P. Beard as Chief Information Officer, bringing in decades of enterprise technology leadership to the organization. Beard joins NASBA after a 21-year career at HCA Healthcare, where he held senior leadership roles overseeing application development, infrastructure, governance, vendor management, and large-scale enterprise transformation. In his new role, he will lead NASBA’s technology strategy, cybersecurity, data and analytics, and IT operations, supporting the organization’s mission and services for boards of accountancy, CPAs, and CPA candidates.

Antonis Papatsaras – Chief Technology Officer at Bluehost

Bluehost has added Antonis Papatsaras as Chief Technology Officer, bringing a seasoned technology executive with nearly three decades of experience in cloud platforms, scalable systems, and AI. Papatsaras most recently served as CTO at Hootsuite and previously held senior technology leadership roles at DocuSign CLM, SpringCM, and Hewlett-Packard Autonomy. In his new role, he will lead Bluehost’s technology strategy, guiding platform innovation, data and AI capabilities, and product architecture as the company expands its offerings to better support small and medium-sized businesses.

Michelle Johnson – Senior Vice President and Chief Information & Transformation Officer at Associa

Associa has appointed Michelle Johnson as Senior Vice President and Chief Information & Transformation Officer. Johnson brings extensive experience leading enterprise technology and transformation initiatives, most recently as a senior partner at Fortium Partners and previously as executive vice president and chief information officer at Freeman Company. In her new role, she will oversee Associa’s technology organization and lead modernization and transformation efforts to support operational effectiveness and long-term growth across the business.

Brad Klingenberg – Chief Technology Officer at Curated For You

Curated For You has hired Brad Klingenberg as Chief Technology Officer, bringing on a former Stitch Fix executive known for building large-scale personalization and algorithms platforms. Klingenberg previously served as Stitch Fix’s Chief Algorithms Officer, where he led the development of its data science–driven personalization engine. At Curated For You, he will lead engineering and data science as the company scales its AI platform, helping retailers deliver highly personalized, context-aware shopping experiences across digital channels.

Ethan Klein – Chief Technology Officer at The United States

Dr. Ethan Klein has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate as Chief Technology Officer of the United States, becoming the first to hold the role since 2021 and the fifth in its history. He will also serve as Associate Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, helping guide national technology priorities. An MIT-trained nuclear engineer, Klein previously led emerging technology efforts during the first Trump administration and brings experience across government, research, and the private sector.

The Oncology Institute has promoted Rakesh Panda to Chief Information Officer, elevating a seasoned technology leader with more than 25 years of experience across IT, digital transformation, cybersecurity, and enterprise software. Panda brings leadership experience from organizations including Cisco and Infosys and will continue to guide TOI’s technology strategy, with a focus on AI enablement, data privacy, and enterprise security to support the organization’s technology-enabled care delivery platform.

Eric Zielinski – Chief Information Security Officer at Jumpmind

Jumpmind has added Eric Zielinski as Chief Information Security Officer. Zielinski brings extensive experience in cybersecurity and cloud operations, having held senior security and technology leadership roles at organizations including Nationwide, Veeva Systems, and The Options Clearing Corporation. In his role, he will oversee Jumpmind’s security strategy and information systems as the company continues to scale its retail technology platform.

Greg Griffith – Chief Technology Officer at Catalyst Capital Advisors

Catalyst Capital Advisors has promoted Greg Griffith to Chief Technology Officer, filling a newly created role. A long-tenured leader with more than 20 years of technology experience, including over a decade at Catalyst, Griffith has been instrumental in building and advancing the firm’s IT infrastructure. As CTO, he will lead technology strategy with a focus on secure, scalable systems that support the firm’s growth and long-term goals.

Holly Drake – Chief Information Security Officer at University of Central Florida

The University of Central Florida has appointed Holly Drake as its next Chief Information Security Officer, bringing a seasoned cybersecurity leader with extensive experience in public-sector and higher education environments. Drake joins UCF from the State of Ohio, where she served as Chief Information Security Officer, following several years at The Ohio State University leading privacy and cybersecurity governance. A recipient of NASCIO’s Thomas M. Jarrett Cybersecurity Leadership Award, she will oversee the protection of UCF’s data, research, and digital infrastructure as the university continues to strengthen its security and risk management practices.

Rex Menold – Chief Security Officer at the State of Michigan

The State of Michigan has named Rex Menold as its new Chief Security Officer, transitioning him from his role as Chief Technology Officer to oversee the state’s cybersecurity strategy. Menold has spent nearly 30 years with Michigan state government, holding a wide range of technology and security leadership roles since starting as an IT technician in 1998. His extensive experience across enterprise systems and security operations positions him to lead efforts to protect the state’s critical digital infrastructure.

Eric Schiller – Chief Technology Officer at KORU Medical Systems

KORU Medical Systems has added Eric Schiller as Chief Technology Officer, bringing in a senior technology and product development leader with more than 25 years of experience across medical devices, drug–device combination products, and global R&D operations. Schiller most recently led device development portfolios at Sanofi, where he oversaw large-scale delivery platform programs and launch readiness across multiple therapeutic areas. His background also includes senior roles at Bristol-Myers Squibb, Celgene, and Becton Dickinson.

Erik Vandermause – Chief Information Officer at M3

M3 has promoted Erik Vandermause to Chief Information Officer. Vandermause, who joined the firm in 2023 as Vice President of Applied Intelligence, has led data, analytics, digital, and CRM initiatives that support M3’s growth and client delivery. He brings deep experience in digital transformation from prior leadership roles at Accenture and CUNA Mutual Group, and will now guide the firm’s digital strategy as a member of the executive operating committee.

Tom Chittenden – Chief Technology Officer at ProFound Therapeutics

ProFound Therapeutics has appointed Tom Chittenden as Chief Technology Officer, adding a seasoned leader in AI-driven drug discovery and computational biology. Chittenden brings more than 25 years of experience building and scaling data science and machine learning platforms across biotech and research organizations, with a focus on uncovering novel disease mechanisms and therapeutic targets. Timken has elevated John Szarka to the newly created role of Chief Technology Officer, expanding his leadership from his prior position as vice president of product management for engineered bearings. Moon has a track record of scaling technology organizations through major growth stages, with leadership roles across startups and global enterprises, and experience building products used at massive scale. Rob Zelinka – Chief Information and Security Officer at Sharetec

Sharetec has appointed Rob Zelinka as Chief Information and Security Officer, adding an experienced technology and security leader with deep roots in the credit union and core banking space. A longtime leader at the company since 2012, Rollings-Scattergood most recently served as Vice President of Technology and Research and Development, where he helped advance Anaergia’s proprietary platforms from pilot stages to commercial deployment across global markets. As CTO, he will oversee the company’s technology strategy, including research and development, product management, and commercialization, while guiding the evolution of Anaergia’s intellectual property and scalable technology platforms that support its continued growth and global expansion.
