Delta Air Lines has appointed Amala Duggirala as Chief Digital & Technology Officer. In this newly expanded role, Duggirala will lead a unified technology and digital function, reporting directly to CEO Ed Bastian and serving on the Delta Leadership Committee.

She succeeds Rahul Samant, who is retiring after a decade as Executive Vice President and CIO, during which he led the airline’s technology transformation and modernization efforts.
Duggirala joins Delta following her tenure as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer at USAA, where she led enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives.
Her career includes senior technology leadership roles at Regions Bank and ACI Worldwide, with a focus on strategic modernization, cloud adoption, and customer-centric innovation.
At Delta, Duggirala will oversee enterprise technology infrastructure and digital product development. This structural shift aligns with Delta’s goal to deepen its identity as a technology-driven consumer brand. She will also lead efforts to integrate digital tools across the customer and employee experience, building on the airline’s momentum in AI and data analytics.
