Anthropic has appointed Vitaly Gudanets as its new Chief Information Security Officer, with former CISO Jason Clinton stepping into the role of Deputy CISO. Gudanets joins the AI safety company after nearly four years as CISO at Netflix, where he oversaw the streaming giant’s global cybersecurity operations.
Prior to Netflix, he spent over a decade at Google, ultimately serving as Vice President of Security Engineering. He also served on AWS’s Global CISO Advisory Council.
In a LinkedIn post, Gudanets said he will focus on strengthening Anthropic’s security posture, safeguarding its research, and supporting safe and responsible AI development. The company is currently expanding its security team, hiring across incident response, container and VM security, and cloud security architecture.
Gudanets is the latest high-profile hire from Netflix to join Anthropic, following co-founder Reed Hastings’ appointment to the company’s board in May 2025.
