McDonald’s has appointed Das Dasgupta, PhD, as its new Global Chief Data Analytics & AI Officer. In this newly announced role, Dasgupta will lead enterprise-wide data, analytics, and AI initiatives, partnering with teams across technology, marketing, operations, finance, and human resources to drive data-informed decisions that enhance restaurant decision-making and digital experiences.

Most recently, he served as Chief Data & Analytics Officer at Starbucks, where he led a 250+ team and launched innovations like the AI-powered “Starbucks Placemat” for C-suite decision-making, Voice of the Customer AI, and SMART KPIs. His work contributed to major improvements in staffing efficiency and product availability across the company.
Previously, he held leadership roles at Publicis Groupe as Chief Data & AI Officer and at Viacom as Global SVP and Head of Data Science and Digital Transformation.
In addition to his corporate experience, Dasgupta is an adjunct professor at the USC Marshall School of Business and serves on advisory boards at Harvard Business Review and non-profit Sounds of Saving.
“In the near term, I’ll focus on building ‘Moneyball’ teams, early wins that matter in restaurants and in the app, and a scalable foundation for AI that helps our people do their best work,” said Dasgupta.
