Trimble has appointed Jim Palermo as its new Chief Information Officer, a newly established executive position aimed at accelerating the company’s digital transformation strategy. He brings over two decades of IT leadership experience and will be responsible for Trimble’s global IT infrastructure and guiding digital transformation.

Palermo most recently served as CIO of Red Hat, where he led major enterprise-wide initiatives supporting a SaaS business model transformation. During his tenure, he championed change adoption programs, launched a global AI Center of Excellence, and advanced the company’s shift to a hybrid cloud ecosystem through the Next Generation Data Center program.
Earlier within Red Hat, Palermo held multiple senior leadership roles, including VP of Digital Solutions Delivery and Senior Director of IT Experience. He managed large global teams and drove initiatives spanning infrastructure modernization, workplace technology, global collaboration platforms, and IT service delivery.
Prior to Red Hat, Palermo also held key IT and architecture roles at Cisco and Nortel.
“I’m excited about the potential for positive disruption of the markets Trimble serves,” Palermo told The National CIO Review. “As technology and data sit at the center of how Trimble grows and how our clients transform, my role will help provide the connective tissue that enables faster insights, smarter decisions, and scalable solutions across the enterprise.”
