Ahold Delhaize, owner of US food retailers Food Lion, the Giant Company, and Stop & Shop, has appointed Jan Brecht as Chief Technology Officer and Executive Committee member. He succeeds Ben Wishart, who is stepping down after 12 years in the role.

Brecht brings extensive global experience in enterprise technology leadership and digital transformation. He most recently served as Chief Digital Information Officer at Nissan Motor, and previously held the CIO role at Mercedes-Benz Group, where he led IT strategy. Earlier in his career, he served as CIO and Head of Global Supply Chain at Adidas Group.
As CTO, Brecht will lead Ahold Delhaize’s technology function, focusing on enterprise tech strategy, cybersecurity, and digital innovation. His appointment aims to support the company’s “Growing Together” strategy to enhance cost efficiency, simplicity, resilience, and IT security across its local brands.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jan, whose international experience and visionary leadership, coupled with deep tech expertise and passion for consumers and data, will be invaluable as we continue to evolve our technology landscape to better serve our customers and brands,” said Franz Muller, CEO of Ahold Delhaize.
