The University of Tennessee Medical Center has appointed Maria Sexton as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. A seasoned IT executive with deep expertise in information security, risk management, compliance, and IT audit, Sexton will lead the medical center’s technology strategy, driving innovation and efficiency across its IT operations.

Sexton brings extensive experience from leadership roles at the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (UMC), MGM Resorts International, Kellogg Company, and Walgreens. Most recently, she served as CIO at UMC, overseeing technology services for a 541-bed academic medical center and Nevada’s only Level 1 Trauma Center.
In this new role, Sexton will drive IT innovation, cybersecurity, and digital transformation while ensuring compliance and operational efficiency. Additionally, she is a CISSP, CISM, CRISC, and CISA-certified professional.
